my first brazilian jujitsu class

I always thought I was a lover not a fighter, but after taking my first Brazilian Jujitsu class at Spartacus Gym tonight, I realize that all I was was a fighter without his tools. How good would a knight be in battle without his sword or shield? Not very. So it was cool for me to feel excited and empowered when the simplest grip and escape techniques I tried with my partner were successful. I wasn’t expecting to gain so much confidence from one class. I’m really looking forward to taking more classes and developing enough techniques so that one day I can assist Roy* in teaching. I would love to teach these Brazilian Jujitsu self-defence and self-mastery techniques to women and teens. *Roy Duquette is the owner and operator of Spartacus Gym and has been my mentor and business partner since 2005.
