reprogramming default settings

I had my fourth kickboxing class tonight at Spartacus Gym on Commercial Drive. It was so fun! And maintaining a perfect stance is finally starting to feel more natural. In the beginning, I kept moving my back foot behind my front foot… I have a lot of gymnastics and dance default settings that I need to reprogram.

As a personal trainer and Postural Reprogramming System (PRS) specialist, my job is to identify my clients’ destructive postural default settings. Sometimes they have a collapsed posture with their sternum too low and their ribcage resting on their stomach. Often times, they have anterior head carriage and a rounded upper back. Whatever the settings, I need to identify the problems and prescribe the relevant Postural Reprogramming exercises/movement patterns/stretches that will assist in bringing their bodies back to their most efficient, pain-free states.

*The next time you look in a full-length mirror, see if you can identify your postural default settings. Are your ears, shoulders and hips level? Is your weight balanced on both feet? Are your feet parallel or are they turning in/out? Stay tuned for my next article which will outline everything you need to know about performing a Soft-Eye Scan.

    Good to see you now part of the Kickboxing club Annika! A great workout and you utilize a lot of muscle groups you would not normally “work”.

    Oh, good on starting a blog! I notice you are using wordpress.com. My recommenation is that you switch to self hosting your own wordpress blog. It’s better for your own business and your branding in the long run.

    1. Go to godaddy and buy your own domain. Say AnnikaHodgson.com or something of that nature. It should be arount 10 bucks.

    2. The other stuff you have no idea, so just do the first and I’ll help set you your self hosted blog for you. You can log in/write posts exactly the same way you do here (it’s wordpress).
